Islamabad — Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for rapists and pedophiles to be publicly hanged or chemically or physically castrated for their crimes after a gang-rape case provoked a nationwide outcry.
Last week a woman was raped by two men after she ran out of gas and her car broke down on a highway outside of Lahore. The woman called a helpline and was waiting for the police to arrive when the men raped her and robbed her with her two children present, officials said.
Following the incident, Lahore police chief Umar Sheikh faced an angry backlash and calls for his resignation after suggesting the rape was partially the victim's fault. He said that the victim should have been better prepared for her journey by ensuring her fuel tank was full and travelling along a busier road to her destination.

Good idea if you could guarantee that no miscarriage of justice ever takes place - and no one could give that guarantee especially in a judicial system like the one we see in Pakistan.
Bizarrely in the same interview Khan also blamed the film industry and ‘indecency’ in developed countries for the increase in rapes....
“ Noting that there was a rapid spread of ‘indecency’ in the world, he said, “We have an advantage over other developed countries in the world. We have a family system that has not been touched by indecent influences.
“Look at Bollywood, look at the difference in their films now and those 40 years back. The indecency has grown to such exponential levels that Delhi has become the rape capital of the world,” he said.
Khan added, “I want to tell the people of my country that whenever indecent values and cultures are introduced to the society, it has a direct impact in the form of increased sex crimes and break down of family values”.

Putting the horrific crime in the OP aside, this is yet another sad but predictable indictment of the political system not just in Pakistan but in most countries and which is clearly applicable even here.
I’m pretty confident Imran Khan doesn’t truly believe the crap he’s spouted in the post above me, nor more than likely does he think crims should be castrated. This is a guy who was a hard partying, drinking shagger back in the day when he was the greatest all-rounder in the world (sorry Beefy fans) who married a white Jewish woman. It is of course possible that his world view has genuinely lurched so far into conservative religious nuttery that he actually believes this stuff. More likely though is that he’s doing and saying what he has to do to hold onto power, which pretty much all politicians seem to prioritise. In Pakistan to hold on to power you need the consent of the military and conservative religious types and keeping them happy means spouting off - and sometimes acting - like a mentalist.

Yes, a portion of the population of Pakistan would like him hung and castrated, along with all other apostates. The same portion thinks rape on the other hand is mostly the fault of the scheming temptresses and they should be stoned to death.
