I like the concept... but it doesn’t look quite right to me.

I bet they got through emissions because they know they’ll probably never get ridden!

Now if my memory serves me correctly the 250GP racers back in the 90's were good for about 90~95bhp at the wheel and this is going to produce 75bhp and be road legal? scratchchin

It can be road legal but still need a 2-stroke finger-hover over the clutch lever and need a rebuild every 200 miles hehe

Unless they have a radically different style of two stroke like KTM's direct injection ones I can't see it, even with an IVA like a kit car. It either will be track use only or nowhere near 75bhp. Plus it will seize the first time a hipster puts beard oil and not Castrol in it...

Are you smoking your socks?? How is the Arrow considered a Cafe Racer???
As for the 69's and 79's being full of 250cc smoker cafe racers, name them. And FWIW, bear in mind where the 250cc capacity originated from wink (I'm old enough to remember)

No, no they didn't. My X7, KH's and RD's all had allspeeds or similar, clip ons, rear sets (of a fashion) but we never stripped them down to the minimalist aesthetic of the 'cafe racer' look. no one did. it was about race rep looks, bikini fairings etc.

And the point is this..... NO 250 bikes were sold as Cafe Racers. It was a dead look only recently revived. It wasn't a style back then, we looked at Cafe Racers as a reminder off the earlier rockers, grease hair days. If people were still into the 'rocker' culture and really wanted a cafe racer, the Japanese 2T's were the antithesis of that. And given you would ride a 250 until your test, there was no incentive to modify them, they were transitory bikes.
So back to my original point. Langan are selling a new bike styled as a cafe racer with the most idiotic engine possible, a fuel injected 90 degree smoker. An engine character diametrically opposed to the ethos of a cafe racer where a big engine was mounted in a minimalist chassis with everything pared back for the illusion of power and speed. Never a ringy tingy 2T.

Golden Arrow (clip ons, rear sets etc) from the 1960s is the absolute epitome of a caff racer confused

Seriously???

Clip ons?? confused

Rear sets?? confused

Minimalist bodywork?? confused

Clearly from the pictures above, no, no and thrice no

The Arrow Sport was never positioned as a 'cafe racer' it was simply a pared back Ariel Leader. Whilst one placed 7th in the 1960 Junior TT, that was a race bike, not a bike that started life as a cafe racer....

And let's remember why it ran a 2T motor, simply to make an affordable motorcycle for mass sale as cars were still uncommon in those days. hence why the Ariel Leader was the progenitor of the Sport....
I respect your knowledge of vintage bike Si but you're way off beam on this one.....

I wonder where they are getting the engine from? There can't be many manufactures still make 2T twins. I here some snowmobiles use 2T engines and they had started using direct injection.
