HSBC Business won't accept payee name.

I am trying to make a payment and the payee name is more than 18 characters.

I input as much as I can and the system says "partial match. Return and update".

But I still cannot enter more than 18 characters and therefore cannot proceed.

Does anyone know how to sort this please?

You can just continue and bypass the fact it doesn’t match the recipient account can’t you?

No, it won't let me proceed at risk.

No HSBC Business banking support over the weekend, so had to pay out of my personal account and through Barclays.

HSBC is toast now as far as I am concerned. I've been with them since 1994 both personal and business, but they have become an absolute shambles.

It gave me the exact company name. But the system now makes you go back and enter it yourself. The company name had 19 letters and HSBC's system only allows you to enter 18. So you enter it and go round in the same circle again.

They have also stopped me sending payments from my personal account. There should be a £25k per payee per day limit. It won't even let me send £10k.

I've not encountered that problem. Maybe HSBC have been tinkering, again? I have noticed a lot of my former payees are not accepted because they previously had full stops in them. For example J. Smith now has to be J Smith

Strange re 'personal' account payee limit. Mine still allows 25k - I know because I paid off some car finance only 2 weeks ago. My HSBC Business account has always been 10k limit.

Ours is £100k but it could as easily be 10p if we cannot use it.
