Phone signal booster
Discussion
My wife and I are both working from home at the moment, and are struggling with the mobile phone signal.
We’re on Three, and a month ago dropped from a very strong signal throughout the house to needing to go outside the front door to be sure to be able to make a call. That’s not been an issue in the warm months, but we don’t much fancy it over winter, so could do with boosting the phone signal if possible.
Other networks a a bit better, but still not great; three was the best previously.
Are there any devices that can act as our own mast / base station, intermediating between the phones and the mast?
I’ve looked online, but the only place I found looks a bit iffy. Amazon, Curry’s etc seem to have nothing that does this, which is unusual if they do exist.
Is it something that’s not legal in the UK, hence one iffy seller only?

Might be worth contacting three.
My father had a similar issue with his mobile phone network and after many complaints they sent him what he thought was a signal booster. It actually connected to his home WiFi and allowed him to make ‘normal’ calls from within the house. May no longer be available as many phones now have WiFi calling capability.

I wonder if Three have altered a mast or something in your area?
Many many years ago I used to have issues with my O2 work phone in that it hardly worked when I was at home (rural location). It was in the early days of 3G and although my phone would show one bar of signal it wouldn't actually ring an incoming call in.
I ended up altering a setting so that it would only work off 2G which solved the signal problem almost back to full bars. I can only assume that the mast with the new 3G technology was a lot further away than the mast with the 2G signal.

I think that that must be it. It just changed one day, and has never come back. I’ll see if I can fiddle with the setting to do what you did. Many many years ago I used to have issues with my O2 work phone in that it hardly worked when I was at home (rural location).
