Watching Coffee reviews and videos by James Hoffman on YouTube, you can’t help but sit there shaking your head thinking ‘what the feck is this guy on about’. I know people are into the technical side of coffee, but is it possible to take it too far to the point it just gets ridiculous? Those words and sentences shouldn’t be used to describe coffee or the process, it just sounds like a Harry Enfield sketch. Rant over.
He's the James May of coffee as I see it...and then some.
I rarely drank "proper" coffee until fairly recently but suddenly myself watching hours of James Hoffmann on YouTube after a random recommendation came up...who knew such things existed?
I came close to spending over £200 on some fancy hand grinder at one point...luckily it was out of stock worldwide and in the days that followed reality took over and told me the ready ground stuff in the supermarket would most likely suffice.

I quite like his videos for the technical side of it. His career is based on coffee so it makes sense for him to be uber nerdy about it.
I agree with this. He was World Barista Champion, started Square Mile coffee and has worked alongside producers of grinders and machines to make them better. He really inspired me to up my espresso game recently after 10 years of espresso machine ownership so that's gotta be good.Plus I love nerds!

a what now??? I suddenly feel quite old - I've no-where near 'filled my potential' but when I left edumacation a coffee pourer was not what you aspired to be. <shakes head like all grumpy old men>Plus I love nerds!
