Agreed. Good to see. Shame the Corvettes weren’t there as it’d have been good to see the C8R battling it out with them; but otherwise good!
Yeah the Corvettes...and the Fords, and the BMW`s - feels a bit light with only three cars manufacturers making up the GT category, but at least it shows that these are the heavy hitters with an unwavering focus on motorsports. Great result and (I feel) a more valid testimonial of AM than F1 will be. Not saying that I dislike F1, quite the opposite actually, and I will enthusiastically support AM, but it`s a very different thing when the car that you can (or have) bought and can drive down to the shops has just won Le Mans and the manufacturers championship, beating what are probably the two most successful marques that go racing, compared to a spaceship on wheels with your name on the nose.Mr.Tremlini said:

Precisely how I view it, and whilst I'm sure it will be argued that F1 is a globally watched motorsport from where technology filters down into road cars, if your car ain't competitive then the impact in the showrooms could be negative rather than positive. Meanwhile, I'd suggest that technical benefits derived from WEC and Formula E are likely to be far more important to a manufacturer such as AML.Old Chimer said:

Yes. I think that when you are Ferrari, your reputation and history regarding F1 speaks volumes, so you can afford a glitch year here and there without it impacting on your car sales, but entering F1, the pinnacle of motorsport, as a new manufacturer and having a less than competitive year or three is possibly quite detrimental to the people manning the showrooms! Formula E has plenty of detractors, and as a motorsport enthusiast it is a weird event to attend, however it`s probably a more relevant competition in the scheme of things, considering the direction of car manufacturing. Porsche, a company everyone interested in cars and motorsport should watch closely, went in this direction with LMP1 in WEC, had huge success of the Porsche 919 hybrid, created the trickle down tech, and then the shifted to Formula E as the company focused on the new power for the road.

Because it's well known that engines navigate racing circuits on their own. I'd also be interested in which 911's currently have a mid-engined layout 4.2 litre n/a flat sixEdited by LTP on Monday 21st September 21:59
