To see how it go's I'm watching the car below.

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2003-porsche-9...

It seems quite cheap & I'm interested in how the prices of these sort of cars are going, but then I flicked through the pictures & saw the pictures of the service book & it really doesn't look right or add up, hand written options, spec & supplying dealer, first service in 2010 at less than 5000 miles, the staples that hold the book together don't seem right & then I checked the MOT history!

My conclusion is I wouldn't touch it with yours, am I wrong or being a bit harsh on a 17 year old car? I just don't see the value in it.

Maybe just a replacement service book. My Cayman has a replacement book with print outs from the OPCs to verify the stamps.

Personally I don't understand how people lose them but they do... Or a fairly regular basis

Garages, especially main dealers, have lost a few of mine over the years when I've put cars in for work.

I never leave them in the car any more, or with the service staff.

I pass it to them when I'm settling the bill, and get it straight back when they've stamped it.

My 2015 981 has a replacement book.

It was sold originally by OPC Solihull, then traded in at OPC Solihull, but sold by OPC Silverstone (they sold it to me before Solihull could advertise it). A few weeks after collecting it I realised it was missing....

Annoying but yeh I have a "replacement" book.

A proper stamped replacement book with supporting invoices for the original services I have no problem with, books that looked tampered with & no history for the first 7 years on the other hand..

Many new cars don't even come with a service book.

GDPR also an issue for dealers hence lots of paperwork being binned.

At least the last owner wasn't a caring owner. Who else would run Michelin's on one and Pirelli's on the other axle...
