Cylinder lining opinion
Discussion
A few scuffs doesn't mean you need a new liner. I'd check the piston for damage and see if the liner can be honed and you may need new rings. Yes remove the piston in case of hidden damage.
First examine it :-) Then decide. What engine is it?

RR V8's can suffer from distortion of the liners caused by galvanic corrosion occurring due
to insufficient/ no antifreeze being used.
This can slightly bulge the base of the liner and usually shows as a light knocking noise at
tick over, could this possibly the origin of the scoring on your cylinder liner ?
Correct removal and replacement is a job best not left to your local engine machinist , it is a
specialist job and , IIRC , the block needs to be heated to enable correct fitting.
The RREC will no doubt have bulletins and people who have experience of this.
The club also operates a specialist tool hire service for RR/Bentley.
