Rant time - I took my D5 A8 in for a software upgrade and some minor warranty work today and was told by the dealer that they are doing free health checks. Great service - except I then got told the aircon needs Re-gassing. First car I’ve ever had that needs this doing after 16k miles and under 2 years old. Also seems chilly enough in the cabin to me so I politely declined. Sadly this free health check seems an Audi revenue generator, or am i being cynical.

Nobody does anything for free, although in this case I'd argue within warranty and obviously a manufacturing fault.
Think similar happened to my work colleagues Passat. They were all getting excited until they realised the car is on a company lease and full maintenance with vwfs.

Get a lot of cars in off the back of these, the work they quote for is rarely necessary.

The service advisors frequently quote maintenance items that have been completed to schedule as “overdue” and barely used brakes as “requiring replacement”.

It’s bks to con the gullible and completely undermines any trust the customer has placed in the garage.
