New car is due in November, wondered about whether others in similar position had managed to get the dealer to hold their car back for a few weeks till 1 Jan registration? Potentially happy to pay for it this year just rather it had a 2021 reg date.

Not sure how true it is but the OPC I have spoke to have said that cars must be registered in the month they are delivered. Seems rubbish to me as if you pay for it then surely you could register the car when you want to. This was after I asked why some one registered their GT4 in Dec 2019 and not wait 1 week til Jan 2020?

Why delay delivery until Jan?

My previous GTSF4 arrived mid December 2018 at my OPC. I paid for it just prior to Christmas on the agreement that it was not registered until 02/01/19, which is the day I took delivery.

ALL depends if the OPC has met targets for that 1/4 I guess.

Lotus have new cars in stock for 18 months ! So not sure why Porsche get funny over a few weeks.
IF they have met 1/4 bonus then yes you might get a 2021 on the V5.

makes no odds to me, but AV185 will say the 2021 V5 is worth £5k lol

Car is a 2021 rather than a 2020. Theoretically makes it worth a bit more come resale

Mine's completing build beginning of Oct. Dealer says she'd be delivered end of Oct or mid Nov.
What you reckon, if it's mid Nov, wait until Jan?

Evosid, are you still after a GT4? I might have to delay my GT4 due to uncertainty at work. Message me if you want my build slot for December delivery as still spec changeable for a few days. Wanted to give you the first option on it.

That’s my thoughts Manny, mine is dueOctober build delivery to Scotland mid Nov. It won’t get much potential use before year end anyway so I’d as soon wait till early Jan for collection. Main thing is it’s in Country and paid for incase of No deal.

I would take January delivery Manny, that was my plan originally even if you have to pay for the car on 31 December and register it on 1st Jan.

I asked the dealer and they said it’s possible but Brexit tariff might be payable so take it on 31 December. If tariff doesn’t happen then insist on taking it on 1st Jan.

Thank you Manny, tough week! I should be ok but cuts are being made in the team so just feels too uncertain to take the car. I really want it as it’s my dream car but need to be sensible and see what happens next year. Can’t wait to see what your car looks like Manny! Hope all is well with you.

All the best with that.
M5 goes tonight hopefully. May need to sell another as I have too many and being retired seems sillysmile

Thank you Manny, appreciate it.
Imagine you will be sad to see that go? What else have you got in the garage you might sell?

Any brexit tariff will depend on the date the car is imported nit the date it is registered. If is in the country before 1 January you’ll be in the clear !

I don’t quite understand this - why does the car have to be registered? Take delivery and then register it this year, next year or never? Got an email from my dealer when the emissions rules changed that I have to register any so far unregistered cars by date x otherwise no longer possible - which implies that you can just keep a car without registering it.
