Hi all, please can someone advise me on the above?
I can’t seem to find the info anywhere (!).

My current ATF has been in for the past 5 years and 12k miles - I’d guess it’s due for a change now(?).

Many thanks

Many gearbox's don't even have drain plugs, unlike engine oil, gearbox oil doesn't get contaminated with combustion by products.

No but it does live a very rough environment in the TVR tub getting little natural air cooling and blasted with engine and cat heat rushing past running far hotter compared to say a Camaro, Mustang, etc that used a T5 variant etc , oil is inexpensive compared to a Tremec rebuild all IMO of course same goes for the diff I recommend every 2 years for both scratchchin but then I am biased smile unless silly low mileage is on the cards

Interesting as I’m replacing mine as part of a body off rebuild although it’s only about 5 years old and probably less then 5000 miles use.
I have to agree Dif and gearbox oil, P/S fluid should be changed fairly regularly Just as a protector of working parts.
I’m not sure how old the oil was in my T 5 box but when I got Doms boys to replace it years ago it made quite a difference in how slowly my gear stick got hot. It was replaced again after probably 8000 miles which was the last time it was changed and again the gearbox seemed really slick since. I prise the gearbox and Dif highly so agreed 2/3 years or around 8/12000 miles depending on type of usage.

I’ve opted for Morris Oils Liquimatic SuperATF Automatic transmission fluid for both gearbox P/S.
It’s supposed to be good stuff. Dexron II approved. As sold by TVR PARTS etc

I believe that gearbox and diff oil change is listed on the 12 k or 2 year maintenance schedule.
As I only do up to 2k miles per year I only have the 12k/2year service done every third year.
6K service every year. Just booked mine in for the small one with Matt Smith

I normally buy from a 4x4 specialist as it’s a high wear spec fluid and they tend to stock it as a standard item

It’s recommended by TVR PARTS for use in T5 and power steering boxes in all the later car ranges so it better be compatible!

I always thought we could use Dexron II OR III

You can indeed Alun 3 is obviously higher spec , personally I would go for the 3 , would like to know what this heavy duty 4x4 stuff mentioned is though confused

I use Millers synthetic gear oil, noticeably quieter than when I have used standard Dextron also the Dextron used to almost burn from being overheated after a couple of enthusiastic days at Spa or somewhere else as demanding, this does not happen with the Millers.

I have taken the Cats out to help but it still suffered from overheating.

Lol. To be clear for others the Morris oils is dexron III compatible rather than being Dexron III
I think with all oils on a precious car early service schedules are probably the best way to maintain clean innards and retain good lubrication qualities.
We do need oils that can take quite a lot of abuse as both box and Dif get very hot.
Ive chosen The Morris oil as I can use it in both gearbox and P/s system.

Whatever oil you choose dont over look the possibility of de-laminating the fiber faced synchro rings due to incompatible additive package frown that would be a costly fk-up , I found harmony using this compared to the previous Dex III I had been using scratchchin no more random baulking when rushed and used aggressively up shifting 2nd to 3rd https://www.morrislubricants.co.uk/products/auto/g... helps I have a Morris oil dealer next door too biggrin

Royal Purple is expensive at £23 a quart (American quart) but thought it best.
Re the BHP, I'm now at 531
