This car has been around for a while, I spotted it at least 3/4months ago, no idea while still for sale as its a 'relative' bargain..

The webmaster needs a few lessons though ;-)

Went to look at this car a couple of months ago. Impulse are on the A4 just outside Reading.

Car looked really clean, very low mileage, and according to the guy I spoke to, is "the quickest thing he's ever driven" Didn't get the chance to test drive though. He also told me that the people he bought it in from had sold it to him as having a Techart 540BHP engine. After purchasing, he checked with Techart and found that it was "only" 510BHP. He then got some of his money back. This may explain why the car is reasonably priced.

Spec wasn't bad, but no PCM.

Is a Tech 5O8 BHP just ECU and exhaust or does it include uprated turbos/intercoolers etc?

The PCM is satnav? If so I heard the early version of this was pretty useless so will lack of cause problem for resale?

Thanks
Deep

PCM isnt that bad, it will get you where you want to go. Even PCM2 isnt that great compared to all the whizz bang new standalone things.

Nice looking car but I wonder how the Tech upgrade will affect the warranty? Anyone know?

Well Porsche won't touch the drivetrain with a bargepole if you are wondering about an offical Porsche one. Not that it will have one having now gone into a dealer.

Porsche will sell you one normally even if it didn't have one when you bought it (subject to inspection and everything being tickety-boo). They won't if its been modded.

I looked at this car with another dealer - wicked car but I was told that the traction control had been "adjusted". All work on the car was supported by paperwork but not this aspect so I declined to entrust my life to an uknown quantity - bough a CSL instead!

I'm not certain exactly what Techart do to the car, but given that this is damn near 100BHP over standard, and apparently cost £10k+, I'd be very surprised if this wasn't a bit more extensive than just a re-map, and exhaust.

Note. Porsche's own X50 pack which delivers 450BHP involves different Turbos, Intercoolers, Gearbox, AND changes to the ECU.

To be honest with you I'm not fussed about the warranty. As far as I can tell a car from OPC is circa £6-8k more expensive than other dealers. I'm a gambling man and am prepared to save this now with the potential risk attached

C'ant find anymore details about the tech conversion

If I were you, I'd go and see the car, and then contact Techart directly to get details of exactly what they did to it.

DMS can give 510 with just a remap and a milltek for a lot less than 10k. I have been out in one of their cars and it is b. quick !! I would think that you might be better Deep to buy a standard car for about 6k less and then have the work done yourself...?

Yeah, I was wondering whether for the £10k you got more than ECU ie turbos/intercoolers this would then give a potential for further tuning. Why I think I would need more than 500 BHP is mainly down to the fact that I'm an idiot

Be careful with stating power outputs, some packages won't make the numbers the tuner states it will when on a dyno. The Techart car will have bigger turbos a la the X50, and will give the stated numbers.

It is reassuring to have the tuv cert and/or the print out from the dyno for the car to confirm what it is putting out.

There are seemingly large discrepancies between upgrades of approx. the same power between different tuners for good reason!

Thanks

Martyn.

Not trying to be an arse or anything saying the above, but I have looked long and hard into the whole tuning thing and you need to be sure the motor will put out the numbers stated, with mechanical integrity intact.
