Sunday time arcticle - 0-60
Discussion
Hopefully this will prove to anyone considering a Noble as a future purchase that the accel figs we use are authentic.
I did the runs for the S.Times feature, and as Frankel pointed out, Brunters is not acknowledged for its grippy surface. The figure we quote in our literature is 3.5seconds to 60 - just a tenth slower than my Brunters time - but that was recorded on the Mile Straight at Millbrook, where most manufacturers and mags go to set times. It's a good deal grippier, so a quicker time is inevitable.
The car I used was absolutely standard (as stated in the copy), and fitted with standard Corsas running normal pressures.

Boys and girls,
I can confirm that the figures are correct, or at least they 'feel' like it given the fragile state of my neck after a hard weekends driving! The acceleration is brutal. When I bought the car I said I wanted one that would almost make me pass out whilst accelerating and even whilst running it in it's blummin' viscious!
Nice one Lee!

Well done Paul, what was the lap time out of interest?
I was 1:22.895, the Atom I beat was 1:23.796 and there was another listed as just an Atom that did 1:20.703. The Shelsley did 1:15.760, that thing is fast.
Unfortunately this was the only session my car ran in, so I wasn't in the actual race.

....and at Donnington yesterday my little classic 2.5 qualified with a lap time 0.7 seconds faster than a standard Atom, both shod with the same tyres.

.. and I recall overtaking a numbered Atom in my liddle ol' M400 on the Friday. Maybe it was just his wife (or husband) taking it out for a spin, but who ever was driving they were still shifting.

Interestingly that Shelsley isn't much faster than the Sceptre Racing M400 (kitted out with a few Faulks Performance bits) which clocked a fastest race lap of 1:16.87 at the Donnington round of Roadsports ........ on standard wheels, Corsas and brakes!!!!!!
With the addition of some sticky tyres, lighter wheels and more serious stoppers it should be more than capable of out pacing the Shelsley.
Best Regards

Good stuff Paul, what was the problem with the car that prevented you from racing?
A 1:15 is very impressive!
Injectors kept on blocking due to debris in the fuel system. Ferraris are pretty bad with a service interval of 4000 miles, well my "clean the injectors" service interval is currently 15 minutes!. They were out and cleaned 6 times over the weekend. We got it down to quite a fine art.

MAtt, i think you need to check your times, approx 1.1s faster over ~1.7miles takes some beating, oh and i don't think the Noble was running on P6000's do you? and they won't be the std "halfords" OEM replacement pads either will they?
talking to Rob (shelsley TT driver) he still hasn't set the car up quite properly yet. btw official 0-60 of the Shelsley TT... 2.82s
Paul... sorry to hear about your mishaps, hope you fix it by next race!

Are radicals allowed in to the MESC series? They'd clean up surely?
They are and they did til the Shelsley came along. there are two categories, Production i.e. has or capable of having an MOT and standard production / factory available power and Motorsports with limits determined by weight. The Shelsley is not only powerfull but very light.
However the whole thing is far too non competitive for all that sort of stuff, there are a few drivers who get very vexed about who weighs what but most of us are just out for a spanking good drive. I describe it as a gentlemans racing club. More of you should join in.

Car was running standard pads, standard Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres and standard (very heavy) wheels. Oh and it was actualy down on power compared to a standard M400 as it has to run with 3/3R T25's in order to keep within the rules.
Times are available on the 750MC website.
Make of it what you will.
