DVLA New Keeper turnaround time.

I bought a car on Monday and the seller did the change of keeper notification online.

Has anyone had any recent experience of how long it would take the DVLA to send out the new V5c. Previously it’s been around 5 days but not sure whether this has been affected by Covid.

I bought a car on 27th august, dealer did the logbook online, I received my copy on 1st September so 4 working days

Applied for 2 in April during early lockdown and took them about 8 weeks. A lot of people are reporting it's sped right up now so shouldn't take long. I'm buying a bike on Thursday so I guess I'll find out!

Doing it online is NOT THE SAME as sending off a neatly biro'd V5. One is all computers, one involves civil servants who are all working from home, with (hopefully) no massive printers and blank V5s.

Anything online should be within 7 days based on other posts on here recently.

I declared a SORN online 2 weeks back and the cheque for the unused months dropped through the letterbox a week later.

Took 6 days to get my V5C through for my 440i purchase two weeks ago. A month ago it took 4 days to get a new V5C after a plate swap.

Did one about 3 weeks ago, came through in 4 days.

I’ve had 3 V5s returned within 3 days in the last month or so, after online sale notification or private late transfers.

Got the new V5 through today! Seems like the automated systems are still pretty quick.

Similar thing. I sold my car abroad and sent a covering letter plus remains of V5 back over two weeks ago but not heard anything yet, or refund.

I'm putting it down to COVID that it will be a slower process.

Did mine online on 20th July. Nothing happened so I called the contact centre. Had to send the V5C in (did on 10th August) and just seen today the log book issue date has changed so took about 7 weeks.

I did have to call them a few times to see what was happening and constantly got told they were busy and it would be done as soon as they got to it.

So, if the on-line change works it seems it is done in days, if you have to send the V5C off to them it is weeks or months!
