I've been having random 'Gravity Industries' videos popping up on my YT feed for a while now, and yesterday I see the BBC are picking up on them being trialled for mountain rescue purposes; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-54331994. Obviously they look like a lot of fun, but have a very high 'watch this' potential. Given how quickly drones dropped in price and became widely available ahead of any suitable legislation being released, are we at all likely to see the same with jet packs? Part of me wants to walk down the aisle of dreams in Aldi and casually chuck a jet pack in the trolley in a couple of years time. I'd be interested on people's thoughts and if anyone's ever experienced one.

They'll never take off...

Price should come down considerably, currently, they are selling for £340,000. Allot of the parts are 3D printed and can't imagine they account for that much of the cost.
Still, even if they sell for a quarter of the price they are now it's still a pretty decent wedge. Not sure I'd want to risk it on a cheap Chinese knockoff either...
What's the run time on the unit used for the paramedic trial?
It's got to be measured in minutes, right? The big problem with anything like this is the amount of energy used to keep the person in the air. This is related to the weight suspended. As you try to increase airtime, you need more fuel, which adds weight, which needs more fuel to suspend it. Etc etc...
We're definitely going to be zooming to work in the future, but it won't be with a jet pack, it will be Zoom with a capital Z.
