Amazon FireStick and SkyGo
Discussion
Has anyone successfully got SkyGo to run on a Firestick?
There are instructions for sideloading it, but I'm having no luck.
And before anyone moans, I have a legitimate reason for wanting to do this ... my Sky box has died and it would be nice to watch Sky on a big screen while I wait for my new Sky box to be installed.

You got an Xbox or PS? I watch Sky through my Xbox.
Ah, many thanks my good man ... I have XBox 360 and PS3 in the main lounge and an XBox One in the conservatory.Job for the day
[beats working!]SkyQ is coming tomorrow so it's not the end of the world if I can't get it to work

Doh!
Spent all afternoon fecking around with Xbox 360 and PS3.
Having not used either for a while they both insisted on doing some large downloads for updates.
Loaded Sky App on both, Xbox 360 failed to login for an unknown reason, Sony logged in and worked fine until I tried to watch something. It then informed me that I need Sky Go Extra to view on a console.
I give up.

Yeah you will need Sky Go Extra to view on PS4, how you get it is anyone's guess.
You can't cast/screen mirror it either via anything as the app cleverly blocks external displays when you select to watch something through Sky Go.
I tried a few things last week while waiting for my Sky Q installation, ended up just watching stuff on my phone in the meantime.

For the future, you could just use the Sky Go windows/mac app and then connect laptop via HDMI.
Yes, that works fine.Sky installer reckoned it should work on the PS3 without Extra as long as it's one of two devices registered for SkyGo. More than two requires Extra.
The PS3 was one if two and it still b
hed. Hey Ho, ain't technology wonderful
