U used to have a ford fiesta 13 plate ecoboost, and it was pretty good until someone the back of my car causing a write-off. I recently got a used ford fiesta and was wondering why the engine sounds way louder then usual. its ford fiesta 63 plate ecoboost so pretty much the same car.

I took some videos if anyone has an idea, I know the video is not best, if you have any suggestion I will take more videos:

Maybe natural variance on this unit, a quick google shows the rattling noise is related to the mechanical fuel pump.

Perhaps your last one was abnormly quiet for some reason.

Hopefully someone will be along who actually knows what these should sound like.

If the mechanical fuel pump is rattling is that normal?

I hope someone can figure this issue out

That noise, similar to an engine with a worn timing chain is normal for the 3cyl 1.0 ecoboost engine. It's only the mechanical fuel pump, nothing to worry about..

A lot/many new petrol engines now run high pressure fuel pumps similar to what diesels have been running for ages. Due to a few different factors petrol engines sound a lot more noisy at idle mainly than old style pump in tank vehicles.
