Website homepage suddenly not indexed in Google Search

I have a business website that usually ranks first page with various search terms. Never had a problem in a couple of years.

Today I noticed it had completely gone, from google search. I have found a couple of results still kicking around if it is picking up a page other than the homepage.

The website is live and OK.

If I enter - site:hamjam.co.uk it picks up all the sub pages, but not the home page.

I have used Google Search Console to see if there are any clues there. Running a URL inspection I get 'URL is not on Google'. If I then use the 'Test Live' button, I get 'URL is available to Google'

I Have requested indexing again (rightly or wrongly).

Any reason why the homepage is suddenly not indexed? any ideas how to resolve?

I am using Google New Sites editor and hosting.

I have had a quick look and you have a 301 redirect setup to redirect all traffic to a new domain on your site.

You should remove the permanent redirect and re-index in webmaster tools.

I should have posted that Hamjam.co.uk is not the site I am referring to (its just my user name).

.......and it’s back!

Made a couple of arbitrary changes to the site, republished it and then requested re-indexing on Google search.

Not sure if that made the difference, or it was just a glitch on Google.

Anyway, thank you to mgd_uk for the offer of help.
