Well its not even insured for anyone but me to drive, so think it will have to be a case of people test driving at dealer, me taking them out, and if they commit then they'll have insurance sorted out so will work on the basis of refusal if theres a problem at handover time. Potential nightmare selling a car like this privately.
I haven't got a trade in price yet though, so maybe I can go that route. When I sold the Elise privately, I got so little more than trade in that it pretty much wasn't worth the effort.

Me too. I had a nightmare selling the Elise privatly. In the end I got a dealer to do a commission sale and ended up getting more for it than I had advertised it for in the classifieds. Result.
I think trade in is definatly the best route with a car like a Noble. You may get a grand or 2 less but at least you can haggle that off the car you are buying and make it feel a bit tbetter.
What moter are you thinking.
I would only consider a CSL, GT3 or 355 as options, other than of course an M400.
Have you test driven one of those yet Dan?? You know what they say!!

Had a test drive of a GT3. Slightly missed the rawness of the Noble, but at the same time thats part of why I'm changing!
Also need to test a GT2 as thats more noble like with its torque.
Dealer has called me with a fabulous deal on a 3 month old GT3 though. Its 12k under list with the spec it has. Downside is silly ceramic brakes (2k to replace with steels as ceramics are 5k to replace the fronts - eek!). Also no cage or harnesses which is another couple of g's.
PistonHeads and try anouncing on the Lotus site.

Apart from that, maybe the Sunday Times? I don't hold up much on that but you have to look at the type of person that 1. Wnats something very very different 2. Someone who can afford it 3. someone who can afford to insure it 4. someone who can afford to fill her up every 10 mins.

I don't think even they would claim an M400 wasn't clearly an M12 derivative! Lifes short I want to experience MORE cars
I can't help thinking about what to get next and I have only had the 3R for 3 months. I will not change for a good 18 month or more but its nice to have your sights on something else.
Going to Goodwood did not help me much, loads of sexy alternatives there!
Think I will go 355 but I also think I will be dissapointed in some ways!!

I've considered a Ferrari, but got put off the 360 when I was following one in a Noble and had to keep lifting so as not to go into the back of him when he was at full chat.
They are also finicky road cars, and not suitable for track usage (unless you have a bottomless wallet), so that puts me off.
They sound amazing though.
Hopefully got a test drive in a GT2 coming up soon too. If anyone is looking for a Porsche, I suggest talking to dealers as they have cars in that don't make it onto the web site at all.

GT2's are stonking cars, and probably the best you'll get at getting something that has had the same mentality as the Noble from that tutonic heartless place somewhere over the pond.
I'd test drive one before you choose on the GT3 (which is far 'softer' in my humble experience)

Hopefully got a GT2 testdrive lined up for this week!
I think they all lack the soul of a Noble, and I had someone cut me up intentionally on the test drive which says it all about Porsche ownership. They have other positive characteristics though.
I suspect a well driven GT3 would be on a par with an M12 on track, but I think its a harder car to extract that performance. GT2s are generally considered slow on most tracks due to the turbos compromising throttle adjustability in corners etc. Residuals should be better than a GT3 though as they will be older for my budget. Theres also the appeal of having the 'best' 911 irrespective of this probably not being the case on track
With a good driver the M400 seems to have the edge (EVO times etc.) but it's pretty close. If it's a long circuit ala Bedford GT then GT3/2's probably win in the straights due to hitting aero issues at 130+ down the back straight (I had real probs with a GT2 last time I was there), but it's very funny to take a GT2 or 3 driver out in the M400 and then show them how fast you can take the new West 8 and then the hairpin and complex on the East circuit - they generally become very quiet
Either are stpuidly quick, but I do think you are right about the rest of the world perception, particularly any Porsche with stickers on the side. Sad, but probably true
