Anyone lost their Porsche VTS?
Discussion
My 991.2 GT3 has now suffered its second Porsche VTS failure. Hung up, can’t track the car or contact it. Probably needs another hard reset which to get at it requires the dash to come out, call it £1500.
What’s curious is that both failures have occurred while visiting the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It’s been all over otherwise but take it there and twice it has locked up.
Any similar experiences??n

Thank you, the dash has come out, the VTS has been reset and of course it is now working. What I can’t get the dealer to understand is that because nothing has changed - hardware or software - the problem hasn’t been fixed and it will hang up again when the conditions are right.
So far, they won’t replace the hardware, they won’t relocate it to make it easier to reset (yes I know doing so will compromise security but a hung-up VTS isn’t exactly doing much) and they won’t tell me if there are approved after-market trackers. They won’t even tell me whether resets are included in an extended warranty. In short, they are useless and the warranty is ticking...
It was a fatal design decision to locate the VTS on the front bulkhead in the 991. At least with the dealer fit ones in the 997 days, they were easier to find, I came across mine when the front bumper came off to fit grilles to keep the rads clean.

Thank you. I expected as much - that the only approved tracker is Porsche’s own, pity it has problems in my car.
Neither Porsche nor Vodafone think Skye is anything more than a coincidence but neither can they explain what is happening. The car has been all over England and Scotland and to France, Belgium and Germany to the Nürburgring without a problem. Goes without saying I will make a visit to Skye when I get it back.
They mutter about the VTS shutting down because the GSM signal strength is low and requiring a hard reset to wake it up but what sort of security system throws in the towel at the first sign of trouble? It’s clearly not fit for purpose...
