I won something at last....

No no, not a bike .......
But enough to buy one
I was at a customers house this week and heard a text in competition on a popular radio station. Fired off a text and 10min later phone rings. Chap says hello and introduces himself from radio station, I get about 3 words in and he says sorry your signal is too bad we have to move on to next person. I shout noooo hang on followed by several ‘can you hear me now !??’ . Next thing phone goes dead and call drops. Gutted didn’t cover it knowing full well what the prize was.
A few very long seconds later phone rings again, chaps says last chance, you need to find signal right now or we have to move on. More frantic screaming down the phone ‘CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW !!!!’ . Eventually he says really sorry but I’m going to have to move on. As I resign to the fact I’ve just lost out big time he suddenly yells STOP , do NOT move a muscle. I stood dead still and had just enough signal to get through and go live on air before being told I had won.
So what did I win.... £10k in my bank within the hour. Phone started going dilly within 5 minutes as so many friends, friends of friends , fellow engineers etc all heard it. Now just last week a friend mentioned he quite liked a particular bike, and for some reason (possibly because we didn’t get them in my home country) I had never heard of them before. A quick google revelled it was exactly the daft kind of thing I like. I had briefly been looking at them but having just bought the Bandit a couple of weeks back and winter on its way, I wasn’t looking seriously at them.
Naturally with a sudden extra 10k burning holes in my pocket I started looking at lot more seriously. I told the wife I wanted one of these and she could have whatever change there was to blow on herself . I’m fortunate enough to have a wife who shares my interests , to the point that when I mentioned selling the Bandit as I didn’t need 3 bikes, she replied saying just keep it and get the other one too
None of the 5 bikes for sale were anything I wanted, most had 40k + on them and either had garish mods or too standard. However as fate was playing it’s part for once , just as I was going to bed a final check of faceache and there it was.... perfect in every way for what I wanted, mega low miles, fsh, few tasty mods, less than 300 miles away and in the only colour I would buy, black !
Quick run down of spec
2010
2000 genuine miles
Serviced and MOT every year regardless of miles covered
Scorpion exhausts
Puig screen
RG crash bobbins and engine sliders EVERYWHERE
RG radiator and oil cooler guards
headlamp protector
Powerbronze hugger
£800 genuine Suzuki Gel seat
Custom clutch cover plate
Tail tidy
Solo seat cover
Genuine model specific bike cover
ABBA stand
Both keys and all original books and documents from original sale.
It then also came with all original spares including
Exhaust
Rear hugger
Rear under trays and light unit
Spare headlamp protect
Spare seat
Spare grips and bar ends
Spare heat shield and insulation
Plus various other bits, basically if he saw anything for sale that he thought he might need one day, he bought it .
Anyways enough rambling on, here are some pics of my ‘free’ bike bought with my winnings , a Suzuki B-King. I know they are pig ugly but I actually like it, they are very marmite but I’ve never been one to buy something everyone else likes, I usually just buy what I like and sod the rest

Now the chap who owned it was as OCD as me and it’s condition is a testimont to him (despite its low miles)

It also came with a decent amount of spares

Including this front mudguard

Much cleaning out of garage and making space and it’s tucked away with the Bandit and GSXR now. Just need the rain to bugger off and I can ride it !

Happy days
My missis enters me in that every other day but I'm sick of answering every un known number so I could of missed out, my number is on every business web site and database going because of business and work so I get a lot
Strangely enough I have another winner story received about 2 hours ago from my dad. He always rings to ask for work that needs doing around there house ( him and his new wife) for free.
He rang me at about 4.30 today to tell me they had just won the lottery post code last week for a total sum of £206000. Yes that's not a typo and proceeded to say the reason he had rang was they needed a kitchen makeover doing and have I got any spare time
Seriously what a complete tosser .
Enjoy the win mate Happy days.

Haha I get the whole ‘what if’ feeling. I’m always working rural where I struggle for signal.. I often wondered if they tried calling me when I had no signal .

Brilliant stuff, and every ride will be all the more enjoyable for knowing it's FREE!
Thanks, still seems crazy seeing it in the garage knowing it was technically ‘free’

I like Marmite - so therefore I think your bike looks great.
Congratulations on the win too - that has to be the best way to pay for a toy.
Thanks , couldn’t think of a better way

I like Marmite too, I was about to put a deposit down on a 2021 Triumph Rocket GT. Sadly the no rear brake issue and more recently one catching fire put me off. This fills the gap nicely

Has your wife got a mid 30’s sister by any chance?

Lovely bike - congratulations!
What you should do is pay it forward, and give out free tickets to everyone in BB and raffle one of your bikes.

Haha thanks everyone , it certainly was a rollercoaster ride !What you should do is pay it forward, and give out free tickets to everyone in BB and raffle one of your bikes.

And I did pay it forward though, the customer who’s house I was at got a zero invoice as good karma
