Looking for one of these. mainly for podcasts while working. I am currently using my phone speaker but the tinny sound is getting wearing.

Must be bluetooth, portable and rechargable and have a nice full sound and look nice on a desk.

Any ideas? budget up to about 100 pound

I got one of these on a recommendation from someone on here:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07HFQYD1D/ref...

I was absolutely amazed at how good the sound is, especially for less than £35. Battery life is extremely good, I reckon the claimed 24hrs isn't far off.

I know they're not cheap, but the C5 that I've got sounds amazing. It makes me 'want' to go out the kitchen to do the dishes just so I can listen to it! biggrin

Another vote for the JBL flip.

A really good one is the B&O Onyx, we bought it at a discount for about 100 EUR. It's not as portable, more to use in the garden. The JBL is a lot more rugged I'd say but the onyx looks better and has an even better sound.

Another option. If you can stretch the budget then consider its bigger brother. . . .

Do you know how well the built in microphone works? That would make it rather more flexible than a simple bluetooth speaker.

I've never used it as a handsfree, I'll give it a bash and get back to you

I kept flipping between the Audio Pro and the Minirig. In the end I went for the Minirig 3 mainly because a Richer Sounds deal on the Audio Pro kept failing at the buy stage. But also because I prefer the aesthetics of the Minirig for a desk speaker - I like quirky industrial designs.

The Minirig seems really interesting, I like the fact its just a small Bristol manufacturer as well. I will let you know my impressions when I get it.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I was just about to post to recommend the Minirig! My brother has one following some work with festival type people last year - very impressive bit of kit, good choice.

My Ankar one wasn't expensive and does the job.

Black. It is for my WFH computer desk so it will go nicely in the corner. I have slowly built a nice workspace with good ergonomics and lighting, a nice sound environment will round things off nicely

Did some testing for you.

Works pretty well with mobile phone cellular calls, and Skype on both phone and tablet.

For £28 it's a steal.

Just got it.

Wow.

Build quality is sensational, it is just a fantastic 'thing', weighty, solid, tactile and feels as though it would last a 1000 years. Sounds awesome as well but I need to explore more with music later. Certainly for podcasts it is everything I wanted, nice full rounded sound, massive difference from my tinny phone speaker.
