When did we become the 51st State of America?
Discussion
I get there's an obvious answer given the "leader of the free world" aspect (whatever your opinion on the job he's done) but I must admit I also thought it's a bit odd especially in the current situation where you'd think domestic issues would be front and foremost of every UK media outlets focus.
Been saying the same thing for years and years, it's beyond pathetic. Most couldn't give a toss about what's happening in America usually, at least Trump's made it interesting like watching a slowmo car crash. The BBC have an unbelievable number of staff in the US, no wonder we get battered over the head with it. Bring the staff home and we might see daylight.

Why are all our news channels filled with (and headlining with) Trump being in Hospital? Blanket coverage!
Sure it's news but all morning the headlines and top items all about America's news?
Don't we have any news of what's happening in our United Kingdom??
Have you eve been abroad and watched the news on the telly there?Sure it's news but all morning the headlines and top items all about America's news?
Don't we have any news of what's happening in our United Kingdom??
Was it 100% national only...

Even when Justice Ginsburg died it was the top story on the bbc. An almost 90 year old American judge dies and the way certain outlets were acting you’d have thought Queen Elizabeth herself had kicked the bucket.
Trump I can understand, however I did find the Ginsburg death odd.hyphen said:

Not 100%, but in the US I can't remember seeing much UK news, unless a brief bit about the royals
Farage regularly appeared on US TV, the whole EU referendum was covered a lot over there. In the same way we have a lot of interest in Trump and the UK as we 'need' them, the US sees the size of the EU's union as a threat too.

Does the same happen in Germany, France etc?

The news is one thing, but I find it annoying how half of our tv programmes are American - and mostly junk. Are there no other English speaking countries that produce good TV programmes?
There are plenty of reasonable Scandinavian and French dramas with subtitles. Inspector Montalbano is a little amateurish but shown all over the world and has a certain charm. You just need to look at the right channels.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
