The Tesla has the cheapest cost per 100 miles according to that list. I don’t get the ranking, what am I missing?

Perhaps the charging process is more efficient?

The efficiency difference between EVs is almost irrelevant.

All of them are cheap to run. Apart from winter/summer which makes a 15% difference in range (without taking a heater into account), the most significant factor is how fast you drive. Slower always means more range.

Exactly,

The numbers are so small that an addition 30% in electricity used is negligible.
To go 10k in the most efficient and least effcient of those cars is £220 vs £136.

Not exactly much of a difference.

A little optimistic reporting there!

BMW i3 is cheap due to terrible residuals, but the cheaper ones don’t do 192 miles between charges! A 14k one is likely to be the older one that struggles to get more than 100 miles on a charge and the Rex model has reduced electric range but added fuel range. Yeah, I don’t quite believe that.

Oh and the finance deal on an i3? Yeah that’s a bit unbelievable unless the dealers are giving them away! Though I do know there were some killer deals around for a while.

Don’t know if the e-up is different, but our up! GTI doesn’t have a lap belt in the rear, so only a 4-seater.

The early ones are 6 years old, not sure how you can say the residuals are terrible because those are available at c.£15k. Almost strong compared with a lot of cars!

Very odd list, not sure what makes the up the best. Only 99 miles of range and bit expensive for a small car.

Would take a lot longer than I'd be willing to sit in an e-up to break even over buying a lightly used petrol version.

I suspect what made the list was the click through affiliate links they were using for each car! The more £££ they got the higher up the car!

You cynic! But accurate. Transparency won’t be high with most things on the internet, so best to check multiple sources at least.

I can only go on what I saw here and we went for. CPO with extended drivetrain and battery warranty, just less than 3 years old and 22k miles for less than 45% of the original purchase price.

I know that’s not bad for a petrol car, but an EV with the ‘benefits’ and cost savings? That’s cheap in my book! Mine has the stickers so I can use the HOV and express lanes for free, that’s worth $500 a year at least!

Early 60ah with high miles are $12k or less. If you can make do with 100 mile range, that’s a bit of a steal! Though a Leaf is even cheaper.
