Anyone know what the position is on this? I have several calls in to my insurer but am still waiting to hear back.

Someone crashed into me last year. I got the car repaired and had to pay the excess until my insurer was able to reclaim from theirs. My insurer has now got their money back, and sent me a cheery letter to say so, but I 'm not sure how I go about recovering my £600.

Anyone had experience in the past?

When I was hit up the back, I was contacted directly by the third party's insurer. They admited liability and wanted to arange a hire car for me. I then received a letter a week later for the cost of my excess

I would suggest you try contacting their insurers as a start.

Easiest thing is like you say to contact your insurers. Get the name address and claim ref of the third party insurer. The write to them sending a copy of the xs reciept and pointing out that as you have been advised that your insurer has made a full recovery you would be obliged if they would now cough for your uninsures losses.. ie the xs.

Sweet, sounds like a good plan. Just need to find the receipt now.

Unless you were hit by someone insured by More Th>n, I recently had to threaten them with small claims court to get my excess back.

It's not even as if it was a disputed case, a drunk driver tried to drive head on into me, luckily the wife took evasive action and we avoided the main collision but mounted the verge - trashing alloys and mashing the mirror, BiB in attendance, got him bang to rights.

Hi - you won't need the excess receipt. The repair invoice as already sent by your insurance company when they got their money back will show how much the excess was.
