Hi all,

I noticed at the weekend that there is some play in the bearing/bush at the bottom of the steering column as it passes through the bulkhead. The MOT is in 3 weeks, so I guess I need to replace this before then. The bearing mounts from the inside of the bulkhead, so this is a steering column out job.

Searching through the archives I found a link to details of how to change this, on the TVRCC westyorks web site, but this link does not work. Anyone know the new link ?

Also is this a standard Escort bearing from Fords or do I have to go to a TVR dealer? I recall there is a nylon and a ball bearing version. Which is best to use?

Thanks

Steve Parker mailed me all the pictures recently and I have bundled them into a single PDF document with instructions. Mail me through my profile and I will forward it.

Pies - do you want a copy to replace the dead link on the tvrsseries website ?

Thanks for the document Neil, it came through OK, very informative.

Is this bearing a standard Ford part or a TVR special part ?

I believe they come from TVR dealers - doesn't necessarily mean they are a TVR only part though !

Try searching the forum for 'bulkhead bearing'.
