My latest build was to put a ChromeOS on my ancient MacBook on an SSD - Works a treat and feels like it has a new lease of life. Few things I don't like, but it's done and now it's put away as the challenge has been completed.

However, my next challenge is to put Windows on a HP Chromebook 14 - Reason being my sister bought it last year (against my advice) and hates it (like I knew she would).

I've got instructions and I'm pretty confident that I'll manage it but has anyone else done this? I'm sure I'll decide pretty quickly that "this is a stupid idea", but it's the kind of thing that keeps my brain ticking...

Thanks

I wouldn't bother. It'll be a load of hassle, probably won't work properly and even if it does run properly, it'll likely be slow as you like. Edit: just googled it and its 4Gb of RAM and a 32Gb eMMC? That will run like absolute st I'm afraid to say.

I can understand going from a full fat OS like MacOS or Windows down to ChromeOS as the requirements are lower, but the other way around is just asking for trouble IMO.

I don't know the spec of it yet as it's still with my sister, if it is anything like that, I won't bother - I know when something just won't work (I tried Windows 10 on the same MacBook (Macbook 2,1) and put it back to Mac OS before Chroming it

Windows 10 runs ok on low spec kit - But if the spec is too low, I won't go there.

I've got ElementaryOS running on my LG Chromebase and it runs well most of the time. upgraded to 8GB ram though, SSD is 98% full though.

Which version of the Chromebook 14 is it? If it's a low end version with 32GB then forget it, it'll be an utter waste of time for Windows10.

I'm waiting on spec details from my sister before fully committing to it - I've recently installed an SSD, more memory and a rebuild on her Macbook already (!)
