anyone buy amazon used /returns /refurb

ive seen a couple of items im intrested in on amazon marked up as a discount with a vague description that it maybe have parts missing , scratches etc

wondered if anyone had anything from them ...are they destroyed or just a dinged up box etc?

I've had a few things, some were like brand new. The only thing I wasn't happy with was a soundbar which had a hole in the grill, but you can send it back if it's unacceptable.

Got a coffee machine from Amazon Warehouse almost half price, way cheaper than even black Friday prices. It was described as having minor cosmetic damage, but when it arrived the box was dinged, but had never even been opened. There was no damage, and they hadn't even opened it to inspect the contents.

It think it's not worth their time to investigate each damaged box individually. So they take a guess at the condition of the stuff inside and bung on Warehouse cheap; just a few seconds of work, and move on to the next box. If they get it wrong, the customer will do their quality inspection for them, it'll get sent back as damaged, and they can take a closer look and describe it more accurately or scrap it.

What have you got to lose? You might save money. Or, you might waste a bit of time sending it back and starting again.

so its more dinged boxes rather than some chav has used it and sent it back with the accesorys stolen

Ranges from perfect, to what my friend had the other day - a microwave that was very much used and had rotting food in it.

It depends on the item really, I've bought a music player before that was several hundred quid cheaper than a new one, and mine was delivered perfectly.

Expensive dualit toaster.
It had never been used. Box was a bit dinged, but that was it.
It was half the normal amazon price.

There are some differences in the length of the warranty if I recall, but it is still returnable if you aren't happy.

Same question from me, there’s lots of stuff I’d like at £200 but only want to pay say £100 if it’s a return etc

For anything used/refurbished, I use Ebay and Ebay only.

At least there you see images of what you are actually purchasing.

I use it when ever it’s an option on things I’m looking to buy.

Bought a TV earlier in the year and it was a pretty meaty saving for the sake of a damaged box.

Two computer motherboards, one "used-good" and one "used-perfect". Used good came missing some accessories, didn't test functionality, as the "used-perfect" one came back in stock whilst I awaited delivery. Ordered that one and arranged a return on the first.

That one had a scuffed up box, but product still had all the peelable bits left on, and works perfectly. all the accessories included and a decent saving. No issues returning the other one as well, just stated it hadn't met expectations. Free delivery/collection too.

Overall I'd keep an open mind - probably don't order it expecting a perfect box for a birthday present etc, but if you're happy to roll the dice (and enjoy free returns if you lose) then you could save a wedge.
