The presenter is clearly Alan Partridge's long lost twin...

Good video and proves that tuning an already good road car is a waste of money!

Of course the V4R is going to be very quick, I’m very impressed by just how quick that M5 is though.

I'm not sure what they were trying to highlight there?
Was it Tuned Cars = good, Stock Bikes = bad?
Stock Bikes = good, Tuned Cars = bad?

A bog stock, straight from the showroom floor superbike with a top level BSB rider is a bit quicker than tuned BMW and slower than a massively modified GTR?

A tuned BMW with an aftermarket makes pops and bangs when its sat static being revved and a bog stock superbike with all its Euro4(5?) restrictions is quiet in comparison?

A massively tuned GTR with all its power and shiny anodised bits makes impressive power on paper, yet in reality is fragile as fk and can't actually use all that power incase something blows up, or it does something once as it should .... then blows up?

Or that Tommy Bridewell loves a good swear?

Indeed, it is rapid! It would make a really nice daily.

It sounds utter dog st though with all those pops and bangs.

That was good. The 5k price a remap, downpipe and intake, seemed rather painful for the BMW...

The Nissan for me is lots of complexity waiting to cost me lots of money..

Meh...

Never been too struck with bike vs car stuff. It's chalk and cheese.

In terms of acceleration what's always missed from these things and indeed quoted manufacturer acceleration figures is the amount of skill required and the state of the vehicle/tyres and road surface i.e. just how likely is it that the average Joe can pull off these figures.

My humble bog-standard Jeep recorded a 0-60 in 4.6 seconds IIRC - but with 4 not-insubstantial lads onboard and luggage (including at least one from these hallowed pages)...on a damp road. No real skill required other than keeping it pointed in the right direction.

0-60 in 3.2 with just the driver in the dry...with all-season tyres on just a regular road with a camber, white lines, bits of gravel etc.

Good acceleration on a bike has always included a reasonable amount of skill...which of course is no bad thing and adds to the challenge/fun. But I'm not sure how many riders can just pull-off a perfect launch at the drop of a hat any time any place. Hard to consistently beat massive horsepower, 4wd and traction control. Any dummy (like me) can just press launch control and mash the loud pedal and let the computers do the rest. Maybe I underestimate the latest bike tech with anti-wheelie and traction control, but I certainly fluffed more than my share of starts in my time.

There are fast cars out there, and fast bikes. No surprises really.

I got a 10.43 quarter out of an Aprilia Mille Edwards back in 2004! it was pretty perfect run, but for 140hp it was chuffed then and now!

BMW sounds insane

only one second behind, in an SUV smile

..and is sounds a lot better than the BMW with proper supercharger whine.

I really like it, although being honest I think I’d probably go for an RS7 over one if I had that kind of money to spend on a car, or a Model S Plaid paperbag

That’s good going on a Mille!, I found my standard V4 very hard to do a quick launch on, don’t know if the Rs are the same and obviously don’t have anywhere near the talent of Tommy Bridewell but I really found it had a horrible clutch.

Not sure you can buy a new superbike without launch control. Pin throttle, ease out clutch, no skill required.

He isn't presenting the video for enthusiasts its for the masses. His other videos are more substantive, and I weirdly, rate him more now that I know he used to be a biker tongue out

(he used to say silly things on older car v bike tests like 'i haven't got the balls to ride the bike, so car it is')
