V8V Unlocking itself?
Discussion
I have strongly suspected that my V8V is unlocking itself. This was confirmed today when I went to the garage and tried the drivers door and it opened and set the alarm off. This has happened once before, but I wasn't sure I had locked it then (although the alarm wouldn't have gone off if it wasn't locked).
The car was definitely locked yesterday and has been sitting on the trickle charger for the last couple of weeks. The tailgate is not fully shut to allow for the charger cable (it is just closed lightly to the first click as it suggests in the user manual).
It seems to happen after a couple of weeks of not being opened as I have been trying it every couple of days and had just about convinced myself that I must have imagined it the first time it happened. It locks and unlocks via the remote reliably.
Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Stupid question, but why would you want to lock the car when it's in your garage? I keep my V8V on a battery conditioner, leave the car unlocked and I don't even close the tailgate into the 1st latch position - I just gently rest it on the latch.
I have mine set so the door mirrors fold on locking and, as said above, if I don't fully latch the tailgate when I try to lock it the mirrors won't fold and the lights don't flash to tell me it's locked. I think the car won't lock and alarm unless it knows all closures are fully closed, so I don't know what it'd do if you tried to lock it and leave it in that state. I know if you unlock the car but then don't open a door it will relock itself but I'm not aware it would unlock if the tailgate wasn't fully latched and you tried to lock it on the fob.

Just for extra security really. The garage is behind the house at the bottom of the back garden about 60ft away from the house. We have about an acre of paddock behind that that and then open farmland. The garage is obviously locked, but mainly to guard against anyone coming in through the paddock and breaking into the garageI have mine set so the door mirrors fold on locking and, as said above, if I don't fully latch the tailgate when I try to lock it the mirrors won't fold and the lights don't flash to tell me it's locked. Right, I understand. Somewhat different to my brick-built attached double. You could use the dropped window, as suggested by Shifty above, but perhaps in your case an external charger connector might be appropriate? Then you could fully lock the car.

something like that would work for you.

If you need to lock the car when in the garage as some insurance policies state, then drop the drivers/passengers window down about 1/4 inch and use the 12v outlet in the centre console.
It might be due to the tailgate not fully being shut, I'll try either leaving the charger off and fully shutting the tailgate or your suggestion of connecting the charger to the socket in the centre console. It's not the end of the world if it unlocks itself in the garage due to the tailgate , as long as it doesn't if I had to leave it parked elsewhere. At least the alarm is still set.LTP said:

That's perhaps a project to put on the list. I hadn't seen that post before. My main concern was if it was a fault developing.Do you remember this old thread?
