Yes, I know it's a kind of a "club", but just treat it as an online store.

I’ve recommended them on a few wine threads on here. No affiliation, connection etc. just a very happy customer.

The thing that attracted me was they are a co-operative so, although I'm sure everyone involved makes a tidy living, they are not pushing their "specials" with high profit margins.
i've heard mixed reports about the wine society. There was a thread on here ages ago (can't find it, obvs) where there seemed to be as many people saying it was bad as saying it was good.
Aldi yea i guess. I can't be doing with the scrum though.
some other ones i haven't heard of though - sounds like they are worth investigating
cheers!

Aldi!
Find what you want by the bottle in store - then buy big online. Plus often what you found last week in store, won't be in store next week.

I do not understand the UK obsession with choosing a wine by the look of the label and reading the tasting notes written by the person trying to sell the stuff.
The “proof of the pudding” is only in the taste, only then you can compare cost Vs quality. I suspect that Aldi have been very smart in recruiting wine buyers with a successful record, I think their good stuff is very good indeed, given its price.
Delivering by the case, for free, only a few days after online purchase, makes it a very good deal.

Ummm if that is the case - I'd deffo stick to my guns with Majestic. Christ you can try in store too.I do not understand the UK obsession with choosing a wine by the look of the label and reading the tasting notes written by the person trying to sell the stuff.

They were my fourth emergency service during the first weeks of hard lockdown.
Their own blend Definition White, Red and Prosecco are defaults plonks on our shelves and with great fun talking to the in house knowledgeables (unlike Aldi I suspect ?) has led to all sorts of other variables from what we would normally try.

Aldi (no scrum if you buy on-line) actually has some excellent wine buyers. I use them, The Wine Soc and BBR. Aldi yea i guess. I can't be doing with the scrum though.

As Jancis Robertson said, any fool can buy a good wine.
I quite like https://www.allaboutwine.co.uk/wine - good prices and good service.
I avoid Laithewaites like the plague - terrible company.
I quite like Majestic - their Bread and Butter Chardonnay at £11.99 is the bargain of the century.
I also really like Oddbins - they're not really online - but if you can get to one of their shops, the range is great and the staff very friendly and helpful.
