Stupid question time. I've just bought a new telly and new TV stand with a canteliver bracket.

The stand came with lots of bolts, but none are long enough.

This is what the guide says
.

So I need an m8 bolt, the c measurement I assume means the bit after the bracket must be no longer than 41mm?

What does the D image mean?

The bracket is about 2-3mm thick, plus a washer so I need probably a 45 mm bolt?

Unusual for a bracket to come with a bolts that are all useless.
Anyway, yes, looks like you need a 45mm M8 bolt. The 'D' diagram points out that you shouldn't use bolts with a tapered end. This is because the inside of the hole in the TV will be flat, so a tapered bolt done up tight may damage the internal case - you need to use a 'blunt' bolt that will do up flush to the case.

I had the opposite problem with my bracket as the bolts that did fit were all too long. I just bolted one up to the TV, then worked out where I needed a nut on the remaining thread and nipped it up to the bracket to secure it, then repeated for the other three mounts.

Are you assuming the bolts have to go the full depth of the hole? That would be ideal but I'd have thought as long as they were in a decent amount then that'd be fine.

Agreed, as long as they catch and get a couple of turn into the thread, they will be fine. Screens are so light now there will be little to no issue.

Actually - I've realised that picture blows up and now it's clearer I'm less sure what it shows. Looks like there's some kind of sleeve between the mounting bracket and the TV as it only shows a couple of threads for the bolt to go in, which seems odd.

I remember having the same issue a couple of years ago. I used some M8 studding cut down to size and cleaned up. Run it in finger tight.

Thinking back i've had to mess about with every TV i've mounted. The screws/bolts supplied never seem to fit. Too short or too long so they need packing out etc.

Thanks all, I got a set of 45mm M8 bolts from amazon and its all set up and fine now. I used two washer on a couple of the holes as there was more than 41mm left.

Ah, I see you bought the wrong Samsung bracket for your TV. You probably needed a different bracket model number which would have been 99% identical to the one you bought with the exception that it came with the correct size M screws. And was probably 70% more expensive.

The mount is part of the tv stand. It said compatible with 55 inch Samsung, and to be honest it is, I just needed some different bolts.
