We just found out that a customer has gone into administration, they’ve been struggling for a while and have been paying off our balance in instalments, we are owed about £2k now.

We supply email services and manager their domains, these invoice go out monthly, as we have little prospect of getting the money from the administrators should we just cut it off after trying to get a payment?
Luckily we’ve never had this before, If we cut it off then it becomes a big issue trying to close the company and the website goes down which generates most of their sales. If the administrators want us to keep the email and domain up then they can arrange a payment, we can’t carry on providing services for free.

Do we have to give a notice period before cut off,? or it could be a “chance” technical issue which we won’t fix until they pay the support bill.

have you spoken to the administrators?

it is quite reasonable to ask:
- how are our bills going to be paid
- what would you like me to do with the services we provide - clearly we are not going to provide them going forward unless there is money up front...

see what they say

Been in this position twice before and in both instances the Administrators have settled o/s invoices in order to keep e-mail service, as they will be more than likely using e-mail to contact debtors to collect as much funds as possible and proceed with the administration.

I seem to recall that the our fees were mentioned in the Administrators statements as dispersments.

Cheers, not heard officially from the administrators, just a email from the MD, it did mentions that they will be starting again...good for them hey!! Once I get the letter I’ll speak with the administrators.

I asked MD to call me but he hasn’t done, might get his attention if his email stops.
