It's all personal taste but if you've started with Simpatico then things can only get better! 
Charlatans are brilliant when they're awake and paying attention but sometimes they're a long way adrift.
Good albums IMO,
Melting Pot (best of) is a decent collection.

As a teenager of the 1990s they are one of my favourite bands.
Some Friendly is a classic and the album that got me interested, but The Charlatans and Tellin' Stories are for me probably the most accessible with some of the biggest radio friendly 'hits', I can easily put both of them on repeat for hours.

Some Friendly was certainly a big favourite of mine back when I was a teen. Gets a dust off and listen to again from time to time and I still enjoy it now.
Agree that Melting Pot is a good blend of most of their best bits also.

t. His hair is a bit much though They've never been my favourite band but I like a lot of their stuff and acquired most of their albums over the years. I would probably rank those I know well enough as follows -
1. Tellin' Stories (I am a child of the britpop era so probably the first I got and then worked backwards)
2. The Charlatans
3. Between 10th and 11th (probably not many would rank their second above Some Friendly, but it is a consistent album)
4. Some Friendly
5. Us and Us Only
6. You Cross My Path (they gave this one away as a free download if I recall but it was one of their better later albums)
7. Up To Our Hips
8. Up At The Lake
9. Wonderland
Don't really know or remember the other 4 well enough. The top 5 or 6 are great but others have one or two good tracks and more filler.

Up to our hips is a great album. I love the title track. Charlatans are brilliant when they're awake and paying attention but sometimes they're a long way adrift.

The charlatans are a great band and the older albums are well worth checking out.
I've been a fan since Some Friendly and have seen them live countless times, I just love reliving the 90's!
Studio albums aside, I'd recommend live album 'Live It Like You Love It' ... all the hits in there!

I prefer their earlier stuff and I think they lost something with the sad passing of Rob Collins, for me pretty much anything up to and including Tellin Stories, I've tried the albums after that and I just dont click with them.
I'd struggle to pick from "Between 10th & 11th" and "Up to Our Hips", if you had to nail me down to one, it would be "Between 10th & 11th" I reckon its probably their most under rated album.

So many great albums to choose from. One of the most consistent bands still going.
Wonderland should have broke them in America, but was launched in September 10th 2001. Absolute belter of a record and proved they didn’t rest on their laurels.
Us and Us Only is said to be TBs Dylan phase, another great album.
The Charlatans and Tellin Stories are a Brit pop sound and both strong albums.
Who we Touch starts off strong weakens towards the end.
Up at the Lake and You Cross My Path aren’t exactly groundbreaking but a great listen.
Tims first solo album was great but his follow up releases have been a bit meh. Haven’t listened to anything since Modern Nature but the singles from them seem good. His book is also worth a read.
