Nursery, charity status, tax treatment
Discussion
My daughter attends a local nursery operating within a local community centre, which happens to be a registered charity.
The nursery is Ofsted approved etc. My fees (c.£1500 per month) are paid to the local community centre, and the application forms, T&Cs etc all reference the charity number. At no point has gift aid been mentioned.
My question is, could these fees be tax deductible as per charity donations? It would be quite a significant saving if they were!
I'm told there are rules around not benefitting from a donation to be able to claim the tax relief, but this doesn't apply to my National Trust Membership (which I'd argue I do benefit from, but I'm allowed to claim tax relief on this).
