Gearing on a 500.

Anybody know what the top speed is in each gear you could expect from a standard Griff 500 at max rpm?

Think there are some figures in the “bible” but it will vary depending on the car. There are at least two Diff ratios and different tyre profiles will change things. Mine will pull at least 90 in third because that was my finish line speed at a recent hill climb. I have the higher geared diff fitted so I can pull away in first without lots of wheel spin.

As Steve says, you will need to know your diff ratio; also what size tyres are fitted and which gearbox (LT77 or T5).

From there, it is fairly straightforward to calculate, or just look it up in the Bible, if the right diff/gearbox/tyre combination is listed.
