V8V Coupe Fuel Filler Flap
Discussion
Looking for some info and help. Occasionally my flap won't pop up - usual Vantage problem. On inspection the bottom edge of the flap seems to be too close to the body and I can see some paint scuffing, so it looks like the flap is rubbing on the body/bowl. I've used the forum search facility but I can't find the answer to my question.
I know you can adjust the bowl/body relationship by slackening the two hinge fixing Torx screws (as per the Redpants video) but, as the rub is close to the catch, I was wondering if the latch itself was slightly out of position.
So my question is this - has anyone had their boot trim out and fitted a new latch or fixed it on a V8V Coupe fuel filler? Is the latch position adjustable (as most things are on an Aston due to hand-built body build tolerances) or does it just drop into a size-for-size hole in the bowl and is then fixed in place with a clip/nut/screws?
I'd rather ask if anyone knows before I strip out my boot trim only to find it's non-adjustable fit-and-forget.

Can’t really help you but as an aside I pushed my petrol flap in too far earlier this year , I ended up using two plastic tyre levers to release it.
I had the same problem and was able to solve it with a little work. Its documented on my website at:

Hope this helps

Interesting, thanks, and a good fix. I didn't appreciate that the hinge was located on a couple of pins as well as the screws, which means, apart from any pin clearance tolerances, it's pretty-well not adjustable. Unlike Redpants seems to say.My problem is that my rub is at the opposite side, the bottom edge close to the latch so your fix is almost the opposite of what I need to do - see below - my rub is roughly where I've marked-up the green arrows on one of your website pictures.
Which is why I'm specifically asking about adjustment in the latch location

Thoughts?
I already spent some time on No. 1 this afternoon and it looks like I have an improvement. Heart in mouth as I leaned my 13st-odd into the open flap, though
I also ran a size drill through the hole in the arm that holds the cap, and sanded the peg on the cap down a bit, as I felt the the fit of the cap was a little precarious while filling.
In for a penny...

Thanks to all those who chipped in

I have two suggestions. Both dramatic ( smile)
1 physically bend the filler cover arm to create the clearance you need
2 Enlarge the pin and bolt holes to give you some adjustability that could solve your problem.
Thoughts?
I did "1" on mine - and never had the problem again over another 4 years of ownership.1 physically bend the filler cover arm to create the clearance you need

u mean the actual door itself or the arm or something else.
You don't bend the door as it's profiled to match the body (or, at least, it should be). You bend or otherwise adjust the arm, but bear in mind that it's constrained at one end by the hinge and the other end by the latch so it all depends on where yours is rubbing. If you look higher up the thread then embdenb gives instructions on how to pack the hinge if the flap rubs next to it. This would not work if the rub is by the latchAbdullah37 said:

Can you elaborate more on this cover that I will bend? u mean the actual door itself or the arm or something else.
I didn't use too much force, but it increased the gap on the latch side very slightly and I never had a problem with the fuel flap sticking for the next 4 years of ownership.
