It's not easy to read but loads of info here with links to the different versions: http://rileymotors.co.uk/kestrel.html

I was going to suggest Cireon Traction Avant
Not with that tapering rear end - a T/A was not only a much larger car but all the saloons had a much more upright rear end with a 'bustle' of varying size. My first thought was one of the early 'beetle back' Flying Standard models, but it seems they all had split rear screens. I think the Riley Kestrel Four Saloon is the correct answer.
I was an MG T Type fan at the time ( about 50 years ago ) but lusted after the Rileys of this period. The photos show just what a beautiful car of the time they were and they renew my fond memories when you could pick one up in Exchange and Mart for £200 ripe for a light restoration, a new battery, some Redex, new points and coil, and then used for commuting to College each day.
Just look at the curved line linking the window cill on the 4 light car, extending down on the rear flank. Exquisite.
Back to dreaming and thanks OP to recall past times. From the photo, the alternative was a ropey Anglia.

Well said Bryan. Wasn't there some connection between David Bowie and a Riley of that period? That's classic cred' for you!Just look at the curved line linking the window cill on the 4 light car, extending down on the rear flank. Exquisite.
