I'm interested in the tactix® Delta Solar watch. It does however feel substandard due to the screen/resolution. The iWatch has better heart monitoring features which id like to see in the Garmin

Does anyone know how the product life cycle works for Garmin. When would we expect the replacement for the Tactix?

Does anyone have this watch and what do they think of it?

It’s still pretty new and is a derivative of the Fenix 6 series, so there will need to be an update of that. Fenix 6 is just over a year old. I wouldn’t expect the Tactix to be updated for at least a year yet on that basis.

Do not expect any major update to the screen. It’s first and foremost a sports watch (with a few military related features) and then a smart watch. The screen tends to be one of the biggest battery killers (along with GPS) and battery life is a key feature for these watches.

What heart rate features are you looking for? The ECG? That needs medical certification in each country it is enabled in, which is hassle and expense to be shared over far fewer units sold vs Apple Watch. Again also of limited interest to the sports and military audience, so I don’t see it being added.

If you haven't done so yet, worth looking at dcrainmaker.com for thoughts on different sports/smart devices.

Can't comment on the Tactic, however I would say that my Garmin Fenix is an far better watch and activity tracker than my mates who have the iWatch which seems more of a gadget/extension of their phone than an actual bit of kit to take out for a day of doing actual activities.

I've worn my Garmin for about 4 years almost every day in a rather rough work environment, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding and it's even survived been dropped from my car on the move (don't ask) and all I've done is wear the black finish off, otherwise it works as well as the day I bought it.

I can't imagine many other specific 'smart' watches surviving that.

However appreciate others may have a different experience.

Thanks all for the comments and the website recommendation.

Is the solar powered watch worth the addition £200? It gives supposedly 4 extra days of battery life. It does seem like a lot of cash and probably not worth the cash.
