A couple of weeks ago I was out hiking and hopped down off a rock, as I landed my right knee locked (felt like it went back further than it should) and twisted. Rest of the walk was ok until we started back downhill at which point it was quite painful. It was sore and stiff for a couple of days but has been getting better, but I still feel it after a decent walk a couple of hours later and particularly when I come downstairs in the morning. Yes I'm getting old!

Anyway, I'm going to be doing a fair bit of walking at the weekend. Going uphill is fine, but coming down is still painful. I'm wondering if some kind of knee support would help, any recommendations (other than don't go) would be useful.

I think I would use a walking stick, trekking pole to take some of the weight .

You don't want to hear this, however...continuing to exercise on an injury which you admit is painful is only going to exacerbate it and delay healing. You need to allow sufficient time initially for healing to start and pain to subside then reintroduce load gradually and build up again.

That's the approach for running injuries anyway - can't see why walking ones would be any different.

Yeah I didn't want to hear that even though I know you're right laugh

Might be a moot point anyway as one of the lads is currently arranging a Covid test as he has symptoms, so probably cancelling now which works in my favour.

Might get myself a support just for my daily walks with the dog while I slowly build up the distance again.

Oh and thanks for the trekking pole suggestion, hopefully won't need it now but thumbup
