Wife’s unusual cooking

We had a lovely home cooked meal tonight, delicious.
Afters was homemade apple crumble... with great delight I tucked in... 3rd mouthful and a question sprang to mind,’darling, did you add nuts to the topping?’ She replied yes.
‘Did you crush the nuts with the pestle and mortar?’ She replied yes.
‘Did you remove the peppercorns first, remember the other day when the pepper mill broke and you said put them in it ?’
Her laughter confirmed everything.
I still ate it.
