Hi team,

Hope this is the right place to ask, moss feel free To move to the correct section if needed.

To cut a very long story short I’ve been looking into my domains and Wordpress hosting from IONOS Uk.

I am pretty sure I’m being totally ripped off by them now.

As an example I have just had a bill for my sons domain, www.tompugh.co.uk

I’m only just in the process of getting a new wordpress site setup for him on that domain, so it’s hardly got anything on it so to speak.

But the monthly bill received today for just that domain is £27 , so yep over £300 for the year, which is frankly outrageous.

I now know that IONOS have been charging me £3 per month for each managed Wordpress site I own, and whilst £3 a month sounds like nothing, as I have 50 domains ( thankfully not all of them are using managed Wordpress!) but if I did have them all billed that bill alone would be £1800 per year.

That’s just a mad amount of money.

One of the guys who does my support on my main website recommendation was to use SiteGround, who on the face of it only charge £8 per month as a few and that’s for unlimited domains, but once again they cHarge between £15 to £25 per year for Wordpress hosting, so using the 50 domain example I could be looking at £1300 per year with them too.

So any recommendations and any advice, and even best practice ideas too would really help right now, as even following some of the experts and their recommendations still leaves you totally confused.

Thanks in advance guys!

15-20 a year is absolutely nothing for hosting, it’ll be slow, no backups etc.

If the sites are useful and make money they pay for hosting, if they aren’t / don’t then don’t.

300 for one site on ionos is too much though.

Cheers Bud, yes get your point and we make sure all of our websites are backed up both to the provider and local copies too, as well as my support guy keeping his own local back up too.

For a simple site like the one I have for Tom, when it’s really only just to keep his domain up and available, what would you recommend? As you say £300 per year for that site in its own is crazy !
