Toyota engine into S1 Exige, will it go?
Discussion
I have been looking at Honda conversions and the like but they are all just that little bit too expensive!! I was wondering if it would be possible to remove the engine and mounts from a crashed 111R or S2 Exige and put them straight into an S1. Does anybody have any ideas as to whether this is feasible or not.
Thanks

Eliseparts.com were doing the Duratecs....but they are on hold at present, the first 10 cars are finished now I believe...thing is, they didnt work out to be *that* much cheaper - maybe £500-1000 depending on spec/options...and youre still stuck with your old PG1 5 speed gearbox...and an engine thats been tuned from 140bhp to 190 or 220bhp rather than a factory standard 200odd bhp honda lump.
The Audi conversion is only available for the S1 Elise at present.

yeah - you gonna need to rewire the car of course !
....back to the sme old answer whenever anyone asks about fitting XXXX engine into the Elise...why re-invent the wheel when 3 or 4 other companies have spent months (even years) developing the conversions that area available...and theres a reason why even the cheapest conversions start around £7.5K ...its because its all small volume parts fabrication, and labour

I reckon its bound t o be easier to retrofit the toyota motor using/modifying 111R parts than it would be to stick a honda lump in and start fabricating driveshafts etc...
