Hi all. Hypothetical situation.
I have a close friend who works in the airline industry as ground staff. Their father has tested positive for the virus with visible symptoms and they think that he picked it up in the last 3-4 days.
As my friend takes in shopping, medication etc. to their dads house this, as far as I understand it puts them and their family (husband and 12 year old girl.
None of their family are showing symptoms but from what I've read this automatically puts them on a 14 day isolation at home?
Their employer has said that they have to use sickness entitlement or unpaid leave, either way this means no money for a couple of weeks at best as sickness allocation was used up earlier in the year due to family bereavement. It seems a little unfair but I absolutely can see that an employer isn't going to pay someone that isn't working, with the exception of furlough.
Is there any avenues that can be explored to minimise loss or to be placed on furlough?

Pretty much its SSP, or if they are low paid and can claim.
