E87 with m47 - diesel smell in cabin
Discussion
Picked up a 2007 120d with the m47 on Friday from a friend as a cheap winer runaround.
Cars done 113k and drives rather nice having had a new clutch, dmf, brakes and various suspension parts done in the last 2 months.
I have noticed though, what I think is a diesel fume smell in the cabin now and again. Googling gives around 15 reasons for what it might be, but I thought I'd ask the beards on here where to start my investigation.
Cheers

This is 90% going to be the exhaust flexi which runs near the bulkhead. They often split on these engines, resulting in the fumes coming out right near the bulkhead - hence the smell you're experiencing.
See if you can take a look at it - should be fairly obvious if there is a black area around the split.

Thanks, I'll take a look at weekend providing it's dry.See if you can take a look at it - should be fairly obvious if there is a black area around the split.
