Don't mind paying a small sub, what music streaming services are there that are ad free, continuous, different genres? I know nothing.

Spotify is the one I use.

They all do free trials so just try them out and see what you like.

Try Radio Paradise if it's a radio type stream you're after:

Spotify is just the best at the moment

I've only had a few albums I search for not come up and it's usually because of artists moving record companies and the complications that go along with that or DJ samples not being cleared for release (Guessing some of the mixtape CDs I had were a bit iffy)

Unless you're into a very niche genre it'll probably have everything you want for £6 a month

Do any of these have ready made playlists? I'm looking for music to play in a small shop/cafe, say a Christmas playlist maybe mixed in with other stuff? It will be run by volunteers so needs to be easy to use, it's only for a few months.

Spotify will do all you need technically, but is not licensed for commercial use. You'll need a business license to play it in your cafe https://www.soundtrackyourbrand.com/spotify-busine...

Don't forget to budget for your PRS license as well https://www.prsformusic.com/licences

Radio Paradise just streams music the entire day - there are no adverts and minimal announcements between tracks.

Their UK streams (from the usual sites) have been blocked (by PRS I think) because of licensing issues.

Technically, you should have a PRS licence to play music in a Cafe or other public venue.

Radio Paradise have three directly accessible from the UK streams - 'Mellow mix', 'Rock mix' and 'World music' which can be streamed from a computer or other device that supports manual addition of streams.

I happened across this page earlier today:

https://support.spotify.com/au/article/use-spotify...

which unsurprisingly confirms that no, you can't use Spotify in commercial environments.

Last I heard, if you want music in a public space (or even as hold music for a phone system) then you need a Public Performance Licence:

Should have said, PRS is in place. Appreciate this is technically a commercial premises, it's actually a 'pop-up' shop in a church hall/cafe, I'm fitting a small music system for them. They have asked me about music, can they stream rather than play CDs etc.

They don't really want to sign-up to anything long term.

Spotify for Business has a 30 day free trial, then is £40/month. You certainly won't lose any thing by giving it a go for a month.

Isn't it £5.99 a month? I pay £15 for a family account with 6 users... would be a bargain if they paid me to use it
