Just come out of a service (was working fine when it went in...) and VW quoted me £288 to replace the dipped o/s xenon bulb, a called up a VW indy and they're charging comparable amount.

I get the bulb isn't cheap but is it really that big a job it's that amount of money?

I'd give it a bash myself.

I believe you can buy a pair of good uprated bulbs for around £100 (Phillips Xtreme or Osram Xenarc Ultra somethingorother).

And I'm sure there is a DIY on Youtube.

£300 for a single bulb is bonkers.

Edit : OK, just checked , they are a D3S - So a good bulb around £80-£90 each.

I'd go for the Osram Xenarc Nightbreaker myself. I've used them in the past.

If you want a more "cool blue" look - then the Osram Cool Blue Intense are also good.

Thanks mate, for the £35 labour definitely worth a shot this weekend.

I just wasn't sure if there was something additional that needed doing as well which bumped the cost up.

They're awesome in a MK7. Standard bulbs are really bad in these, with the Osram in they're a step above even the LEDs in newer cars. Seriously.

Awesome value, usable upgrade.
