I'm getting several calls from people that say they have missed a call from my mobile number. It's very clearly not me, so it looks like my number has been cloned somehow.

How can I find out more or get the "other" number stopped?

Additional info:-

It has happened maybe half a dozen times now
I'm with EE on unlimited calls, so I don't get an itemised bill
Two years ago, I sold my previous handset (an HTC One E9 Plus) after I switched from O2 to EE - I'm pretty sure I hard-reset the phone

You're just unlucky. Scammers will use any number they want as the caller ID (spoofing). Normally its a residential line from the area they want to target. This has happened twice in about 10 years to me. Usually it stops after a few days - or it did in my case.

Side note - of all the people that called me all but one understood the concept of spoofing. Apart from one guy who insisted it had to be me calling with an indian accent, and was going to see that I was arrested for wasting his time.

Sounds like a Spoofer...

If someone has cloned your SIM you wont get any calls...

May be scammers, but more than likely cold callers operating outside the law, using VOIP and a spoofed number. If they used conventional PSTN telecoms then their provider would soon shut them down (in theory).

Have you googled your number?
If it’s a regular nuisance call ‘copied’ your number, it’s bound to come up
