I just wanted to say that nicely run in used DB11’s are starting to look tasty value now........with safe warranted low mileage-ish early V12’s sitting around the 90k +/- mark most would have been £175k+ list just a few short years ago.

I have avoided the new Vantage design debates as it is all down to personal taste, although I’m a fan of the earlier design, but much as I still love the DB9 I think Aston nailed it with the DB11. It is classic Aston Martin brought up to date, although colour sensitive, in the flesh it is absolutely stunning to my eyes and has the 600hp bite to match the V12 bark....... time to paw over the `Pistonheads classifieds me thinks wink

Interesting that there isn’t a lot of DB11 chat on the forum yet, but I think that may well start to change.

Thoughts? smile

I have one in Skyfall silver. Black interior with red stitching. Cracked carbon fiber. My dream car and most gorgeous car imo.

The DB11 was described on this forum as looking like an elephant had sat on it, and the interior is 'ghastly' (because of the infotainment screen), so I figured it best not to talk about it anymore on PH. This forum is more into the older, pretty cars smile

In any case, the early DB11's are good value in particular - Launch Edition and CEO Edition cars have a lot of kit (£5k of B&O sound system which became an option later on, for example - and little touches like air vents which had a material change on later cars).

Interestingly, in recent times, AMR used prices at MD's have started to creep up in places (not masses, just a few £k). Being the oldest model in the current lineup, the early V12 examples have settled down and represent good value now at around £90k. Other factors come into it - since the AMR is now on a build to order basis, and relatively few were ordered anyway, there's few examples floating around, helping residuals - it's unlikely early AMR's will dip below say £115k for a while (just my view). The Volante remains quite popular, and in say a year's time, values ought to start settling a bit on the earliest ones as the new build tap has been stopped and the supply vs demand ratio is corrected.

They're superb cars thumbup

At 90k for a V12, they are great value.

Have had mine for 2 years and really enjoyed it other than the initial depreciation, but hopefully that's now settled. Done a few tweaks, DBS wheels, AP springs and a Quicksilver exhaust to sharpen up the looks, handling and sound, and wouldn't change for anything else other than a DBS

Agree great value at that price. I had mine for 3 years since new and about 7.5k miles. The longer I have it the more I like it. Great for just pottering around but if you push it flies ! I haven’t had it done but I think you can get most of the AMR changes retrofitted to the older cars but a bit pricey.

Always gets great comments from people. It’s interesting that recently I have been driving my daughters VW Up! In London a lot to be more environmentally conscious and people just don’t give you the same space. In the DB11 everyone gives you room and lots of people let you out of side roads and merge in easily but you just don’t get the same respect in the UP!

Agree, 90k is a great price. DB11 AMR for me is the top of the current pile.

DCarrer0.. photo please, NFC.. she looks stunning smile

I get some of the original negatives about the 11, it is very colour sensitive and we all need time for a new design to settle. I love the DB9 and original Vantage’s design, they are amongst the most beautiful cars ever produced, but the DB11 moves the design forward.

In the flesh and on the move it looks simply stunning and you have the choice of the more classic look which would feature the exterior bright pack and a classy mid-dark hue’s (ie Magnetic Silver), or a more brooding edgy exterior with black pack/roof with black or red car’s, or the contemporary look which features the lighter colours and black pack. The lighter colours contrast with and highlight parts of the design and the 11’s exterior then doesn’t flow or look cohesive to me, so this is why it is very colour sensitive according to taste.

ie the classic look -stunning IMO

The brooding look

the contemporary look

And yet the Up! has a well integrated infotainment screen...

Back on topic; the AMR power upgrade is purely a horsepower and exhaust valve upgrade - none of the chassis hardware is involved (which with the AMR, was the more significant change and tightened up the handling (though the regular car isn't a boat when you start to chuck it around IMO, but the passage of time has meant it's often thought of as being an overly soft grand tourer). 30bhp extra isn't a huge amount, though the exhaust tweaks are noticeable). £3k at a MD typically.

Here is my DB11 V8 in Diavolo Red.

I have just spent a week in the South Western Highlands of Scotland with it, and to say it drove sublimely is an understatement. My default setting is usually Sport with GT damping. Here though, I was using Sport + with Sport damping; a perfect combination.

I think that the planners of those Scottish Highland A roads had Aston Martins specifically in mind when building them. Glorious.

I love the DB11, in my previous life at Gaydon I remember following the first one ever made around the new line. It took a couple of weeks to build it as everything was still being commissioned and it was a really early level car, however I can remember us all being really excited as it got towards the end of the trim and final line and started looking like a finished car. We hadn't seen a 'proper' one in the flesh before and when it finally came off the line we all spent time admiring it before it was camo'd and sent on its way for development work.

It didn't take long before the factory was full of them and the novelty wore off, but I've had a soft spot for them ever since. I've always thought they were a little spec sensitive - where the bright colours work on the Vantage (mine is Elwood blue) the DB11 suits the darker silver/black palette. I also prefer the body coloured cantrail and roof rather than black/anodised (I could tell early on the anodised wasn't going to be a popular option!) and I think the newer wheel designs released with the V8 and Volante look much better than the original DB10 wheels. I've seen a few out and about on the roads and they definitely look better in person and have a 'wow' factor that isn't quite captured in pictures. I think the latest part diamond turned forged wheels look fantastic and the whole car looks really classy, the design has definitely become more endearing over time. Mechanically and build wise the DB11 is a big step up over the DB9, and if I was in the market for a GT I think I'd have a pop at £90k. Controversially I also reckon it's a better car, at least underneath, than the Vanquish - except maybe the run out 'S' models - and for similar money the DB11 is perhaps the better buy.

If it had the DBX centre stack with the integrated screen and the new style slim vents (big improvement) I think it would be near on perfect. It's really only a mid cycle update away from that now, and if supply is limited going forward hopefully the residuals will hold up a little better and tempt more people into them.

I thought the amr upgrade to the standard db11 v12 included chassis tweaks to bring it up to the amr spec cars?

No the AMR power upgrade is only ECU related. There's currently no package to upgrade the anti-roll bars, dampers etc. That's not to say it hasn't been discussed - something like a 'handling pack'. Who knows what the future holds...

I would agree with that. Much as I like the current DB11 dashboard and equipment (I easily tolerate the stuck-on Infotainment screen, but would prefer an integrated one), the DBX is a cut above - no doubt about that.

A while back someone on here was saying it was £15k for the AMR upgrade Not sure if that was a real quote and if so which suspension items were included. Anyway not sure it is worth that much on a £90k car which handles pretty well anyway - certainly beyond my driving ability.

The contemporary approach for me to match the architecture. China Grey and black, with a splash of yellow.
