A bit pathetic to admit (considering I passed my test in 1997) that I finally went touring on my bike yesterday. Only overnight but around 1000 km over some truly amazing roads north of Auckland. Just chucked some overnight stuff in a rucksack and had a vague destination as to where to stop (somewhere not far from the furthest point north in NZ).
Roads were generally amazing. Best I’ve been on by some margin (compared to Wales, Scotland and Switzerland). Like the best bits of those countries but dry and warm, mainly good quality and almost empty.
The Tuono is pretty damn good. For serious touring perhaps not but for a couple of days no problem and there is no way a touring bike would have been as much fun on the twisty bits (of which there were lots).
Already planning my next trip!
